Great logo design is intentional.

Did you know it only takes 10 seconds for a user to form an impression of your brand? Your logo often shapes that first impression – make it count. Your logo design is a visual summary of your company, helps you stand out from your competition, and forms the cornerstone of your brand. Color, typography, iconography, and language complete the brand story.

HOW IT WORKS

CLIENT BRIEF

You know your brand better than anyone, which is why you are involved at every step in the logo design process. The first step is the client brief, which gives you an opportunity to express your vision and expectations.

RESEARCH

After getting to know your vision for the logo and brand, we look for answers to questions like, “What are competitors doing effectively and ineffectively? How can your brand stand out among competitors?” We also study peripheral brands for inspiration around visual style and online presence.  We take the information that we gather, organize the data, and present our findings to ensure you agree with our design direction.

Concept Generation – Phase 1

We start with sketches to clarify the direction. Sketches are quick, low cost, and effective. After refinement, we digitize the strongest logo concepts and consider font, color palettes, and overall style. At the conclusion of Phase 1, we present our research findings and initial logo designs in a story-based presentation.

Concept Refinement – Phase 2

We recommend choosing a few (1-3) of your favorite logo concepts from the first phase. Incorporating your feedback, we add, subtract, and combine ideas to create a new body of work.  We then show a variety of logo alternative options for color and font selection.

Concept Finalization – Phase 3

Once we have established your favorite logo concept, we make final alterations based on your feedback. This ensures a polished and well-designed logo, and sets the stage for branded elements that will follow.

Logo Package

To ensure your logo files are used appropriately across all collateral, we create a logo package for your team. The logo package includes all of the different types of file formats and logo variations for use in both print and digital, along with a visual guide for their application.

LOGO DESIGNS THAT MAKE US PROUD

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Can I be a part of the logo design process?

Absolutely. You know your business better than anyone and are an integral part of the design process. We incorporate your vision and feedback at every step. Keeping communication consistent and targeted, as well as setting aside purposeful times for feedback, allows our team to do our best work.

I just want a logo…

We create intentional logos that tell a story, align with the vision of your brand, and help your company stand out from your competition. While we can create “just a logo”, we highly recommend pairing your logo with a cohesive brand identity to ensure a consistent look across all of your platforms and mediums.

How much does logo design cost?

Cost varies based on the scope of the full project. Feel free to submit a no-obligation Branding Creative Brief. A project manager from our team will learn about your needs and follow up with a brief phone conversation to ensure we’d make a good fit. From there, we’ll submit an estimate that includes each phase of your project.

Can I get my existing logo updated or re-designed?

Yes. If you already have a recognizable, professional logo that resonates with your clients, we can work with you to evolve it. Minor updates may include a more modern color palette, typeface, or subtle style changes.

Do I own my logo, once it's created?

100%. Once created, your final logo is yours to keep. You have full license to trademark or copyright as desired.

What file types will I receive of my logo?

In your final logo package, we’ll include files for both print (CMYK) and digital (RGB) applications. Each package is custom to your brand’s unique needs but generally includes .eps, .png, .jpg, and .pdf files. Additional file types are available on request.

Can I trademark or copyright my logo?

Yes. Once created, your final logo is yours to keep. You have full license to trademark or copyright as desired.

What happens if I'd like to see further options after Phase 3?

Since you and your team are involved at every phase of the process, there are usually no surprises at the end of a project. As such, we rarely have unsatisfied partners. If you would like to explore further directions for your project, let us know.

TIPS ON CREATING A LOGO

Understand the purpose/use of your logo

Purpose and use are often underrated but are crucial in making a professional logo. For example, if the main application for your logo is your website’s navigation bar, a vertically-stacked logo lockup is probably not the best solution for your logo design.

Tailor it to your audience/users

Consider your demographic and make decisions around what would appeal to them. Understanding your target customer’s industry, style preferences, and purchasing decisions can help drive successful branding.

Check your competitors

Define what works effectively and ineffectively for your competition, and use your findings to make your brand memorable.

Communicate with your designers

You know your brand better than anyone, and ultimately, you have the final say in all design decisions. We’re here to provide guidance and support along the way.

Take a “beginner’s mind”

Clients often have very strong initial opinions during the first phase of logo design. Envision your end user and their preferences over personal biases. It helps to meditate on the logo options and ask friends or colleagues for opinions.

Integrate your logo into a cohesive brand

While we can create “just a logo”, we highly recommend pairing your logo with a cohesive brand identity to ensure a consistent look across all of your platforms and mediums.
